…a recap of I Should Be Carried on the Chariot-Type Thing.
Ok, maybe it’s a little bit extreme to be paraphrasing Lincoln (with some minor substitutions), but the Favorites had some serious issues this week.
The Fans: We start off the episode with the first official enemies on the Fans’ end, Mikey B and Joel. I have to say, Joel is seeming like a grump in general…actually, a grump with a superiority complex. He seems convinced that he knows best and always seems to be dissatisfied with the actions of the rest of the tribe.
The Favorites: Already near the beginning of the episode, the Favorites are arguing. I love it when these people start accusing other people of being scheming as they are visibly scheming themselves. It’s beautiful…
The First Challenge: The tribes are playing for three items of their choice, which all will prove useful for their survival and comfort on the island. The task: transport 5 bags total (3 of your own and 2 from the other team) across a lagoon and retain possession of them all simultaneously. I have to say, these guys (and girls) play rough…pushing, pulling, body slamming, etc. Did you notice the many blurred butt cracks from those pesky, skimpy bathing suits?
The Winners: Favorites, though both tribes put up a good fight. They win shelter, a lighting kit and a survival kit (what’s that exactly…sounds vague). The Favorites choose their own Ami and the other team’s Kathy again for Exile Island. Luckily we don’t have to put up with too much Kathy footage while the ladies are on the island this time.
Night: A lovely juxtaposition of the Favorites basking in the glory of their win (remaining dry) and the dejected Fans getting a crappy night of sleep in the rain.
Immunity Challenge: 2 men and 2 women from each tribe have to hold up a net while everyone else tries to fill up the opposing team’s net with heavy coconuts (that look like footballs). It looked sort of like an islandy variation of the side-by-side basketball that kids play at arcades.
The Winners: Fans (and even Kathy managed to get some of those coconuts into the net)!
The Cirie Situation: So one of the Favorites will be departing this week, and as one Favorite astutely pointed out, Cirie is the swing vote of the week. This means that both alliances are doing their very best to court Cirie and guarantee her vote. Jonathan and his alliance want Parvati to go while James and co. want Eliza to go. Well, so they thought, until Cirie pretty much schemes them all into voting for Yau-Man in order for her to join their alliance.
Tribal Council: One word - tense. Cirie tries to be a diplomat and explains the she is doing both what is best for herself and for the tribe. Cirie and Jonathan fight with each other, because everyone pretty much already knows who has gotten the short end of the stick this time.
Indeed, Cirie’s master plan worked and adorable litte Yau-Man (who actually is useful, unlike Parvati) gets his torch snuffed. Ciao, Yau…you’ll be missed.
Cirie and Jonathan officially hate each other now, and Jeff Probst points out how divided the Favorites seem to be. I smell even more trouble next week…
