As Kota returns from Tribal Council, Bob is convinced that he is the next to go from Kota if there isn’t a merge soon.  Since Kenny and Crystal were successful in swaying Susie to vote with them to get Marcus out, he feels there’s no hope for him to stay on the new Kota tribe.

Over at Fang, they’ve lost their fire, but it really doesn’t matter since they don’t have any food anyway.

Tree Mail indicates that there will be some sort of golf with slingshots at the Reward Challenge, but no indication of a merge.

Tribes arrive at the Reward Challenge, where Fang sees that Marcus was voted out.  There’s a lot of mixed reaction to Marcus being gone, from the big smile on Matty’s face to the looks of disbelief and disappointment from Corinne and Charlie.

Jeff explains the Reward Challenge, which is indeed golf Survivor-style.  Tribes play against each other on 3 holes, shooting the ball toward the hole with a massive slingshot.  The tribe with the lowest number of shots on each hole wins the hole, and the tribe that wins 2 out of the 3 holes wins Reward.  Reward this time consists of a trip to a Gabonese village where the tribe will take part in a dance ceremony and a meal, and will spend the night in the village.  The winning tribe also gets to send one member of the losing tribe to Exile.

Tied 1 to 1, Fang was on the verge of winning Reward, but Randy would not shut up to let Matty take the shot.  When Matty finally lobbed the ball in the hole, Fang won Reward.  Since Sugar was now on Fang and couldn’t be sent back to Exile, they sent Bob. Corinne and Charlie felt Bob had the best chance of finding the hidden idol.  Of course, they were the only two members of the new Fang that didn’t know Sugar already had the idol.

This was the first time that Matty had gotten to experience a reward, since he was the only original Fang member.

With Bob at Exile, Kenny was left as the only male at Kota, with Susie and Crystal.  Because of this, he felt like he needed to be the provider.  He did manage to bring in some fish.

At Exile, Bob took Clue over Comfort.  He followed the trail of clues successfully, only to discover the idol had already been discovered.  So, he crafted himself an idol, hoping that he would be able to fool his tribe mates.

At the Immunity Challenge, Jeff gave them the news they had all been waiting for…they would be playing for individual immunity because they were now a merged tribe.

After putting on their clean, fresh blue buffs, the Survivors got down to the business at hand — immunity.

For this challenge, each tribe mate was given supplies for making fire — flint, steel, and straw.  Each tribe member had to build a fire high enough to burn through a rope.  First person to burn through their rope would win the first individual immunity.

Susie got her fire going first, with Sugar right behind her.  These two women were the only Survivors to get their fire going.  Susie got her fire high enough to burn the rope and win the first individual immunity.

After the challenge, the new tribe returned to the former Fang camp.  All personal items and reward items left at Kota would be delivered to the new camp, along with supplies to make their new tribal flag.

The tribe mates decided to name their new tribe “Nobag” which is Gabon backwards.  While the sentiment is nice the name sounds rather wimpy to me.

At the first merged tribal council, Randy and Crystal were at each other’s throats.  In the end, Crystal got four of the votes, while Charlie got five, making him the second member of the jury.
