With Carolina voted out at Tribal Council, the Jalapao tribe returns to camp. Sandy is happy to have survived the vote, and will be around for at least 3 more days.
The next day, Jalapao decides to hunt for termites since they don’t have another source of protein. Remember, they didn’t get any of the beans or rice the first day. Speaking of beans and rice, after they get their fire started, Timbira has an argument over how to cook their beans and rice. Coach thinks they should combine the two, while Candace thinks they should be separate.
At Timbira, Sierra tells Brendan about the hidden idol on their beach. She chooses to tell him because he was the only person to not vote for her in the original “first impressions” vote. They head to the beach and find the first clue. They think they have the second location figured out and are in the process of digging a big hole when Debbie finds them. Sierra, thinking quickly, tells her that she and Brendan are digging a fire pit so that they can have a bonfire on the beach later.
Back at Jalapao, while talking, Taj lets it slip that she is married to Eddie George. Most of the guys are impressed (only Stephen doesn’t have a clue who Eddie George is), but minds start working, figuring she doesn’t need the money.
The two tribes meet Jeff for the Immunity Challenge. In this challenge, three members from each team will be in the water, retrieving balls. They will have to shoot the balls at a basket, while the other team tries to take the ball away. The first tribe to score three baskets will win. After each point is scored, three different members for each team will take to the water. The winning tribe will not only win Immunity, but also fishing gear, and the chance to send one member of the losing team to Exile.
Since Timbira has one more member, Debbie sits out the challenge. Starting out for Jalapao is Taj, Stephen and Sydney; with Sierra, Candace andTyson for Timbira. After a fight, Candace scores the first basket for Timbira. Next for Jalapao is JT, Joe and Sandy; with Erinn, Brendan and Tyson for Timbira. Tyson scores for Timbira, so it’s 2-0 Timbira. Next up is Taj, Sydney and Sandy for Jalapao and Candace, Erinn and Sierra for Timbira. Sydney scores for Jalapao, 2-1 Timbira. JT, Joe and Spencer are up for Jalapao, with Brendan, Coach and Jerry for Timbira. JT scores for Jalapao, evening the score at 2 baskets for Timbira and 2 for Jalapao. The next team to score would win. For Jalapao, it’s Sydney, Stephen and Taj; for Timbira, Tyson, Sierra and Candace. Stephen scores, winning the challenge for Jalapao.
Jalapao wins Immunity and the fishing gear. They choose Branden to go to Exile. Jeff hands Brendan a note, telling him that he can choose one member of the winning tribe to go to Exile with him. Brendan chooses Taj. At Exile, Brendan and Taj have to choose between two urns. One urn has the hidden idol clue, and one doesn’t. Taj chooses an urn, and doesn’t get the clue. Brendan gets the clue, and shares it with Taj. The clue tells them that the idol is somewhere at their camp, they believe. Besides the clue, Brendan also got a note saying that he could switch tribes if he wanted. He chose to stay with Timbira.
Back at Timbira, the castaways discuss voting out Coach. Candace is leading the discussion. Debbie tells Coach and Tyson what Candace has been saying. Candace works on Erinn, telling her to vote for Coach. Coach later tells Erinn, Candace and Jerry to vote the original plan, which is to get rid of Sierra, but in reality, Coach wants Candace gone, and secretly tells the others to vote for Candace.
The theme of the discussion at Tribal Council is trust. Nearly everyone tells Jeff that it’s really too early to trust people in this game. Jeff calls for the vote, and in a vote of 7-1, Candace is blindsided and is voted out of Survivor.
