In last week’s episode of Survivor, Brendan decided to accept the role of tribe leader for Timbira, since it had been discussed at the previous Tribal Council. Coach thinks the tribe would be better off if he was the leader, and plans to assume that role once Brendan is voted off. Tyson is indifferent to the whole matter, as he hasn’t really be paying attention.
At Jalapao, Taj finds the opportunity to talk to Stephen about the plan that she and Brendan have concocted for the alliance with her, Brendan, Stephen and Sierra. Stephen is elated.
At the Reward Challenge, three members of each tribe will stand with a pole across their back. Two members of the other tribe will dictate which tribe members will get two 20 pound weights placed on their pole. If the weight gets too heavy, the pole holders can drop out. The last person standing will win reward for their tribe. The reward for this challenge is a camp raid, where two members of the winning tribe will visit the other tribe and take two items of their choice. The winning tribe will also send a member of the losing tribe to Exile.
Pole holders are JT, Joe and Taj for Jalapao and Tyson, Brendan and Debbie for Timbira. Weight is added to each person until they drop out. Brendan drops out with 180 pounds, Tyson with 140, JT with 220, and Joe with 140. It’s up to both women, who each have 100 pounds. Debbie drops out, leaving Taj as the sole person left standing. Jalapao wins reward and chooses Sierra to go to Exile.
Brendan and Taj had made a plan to choose either Sierra or Stephen, depending on which tribe won the challenge, and then Sierra or Stephen would choose the other to accompany them. However, Brendan had not talked to Sierra about the plan, so she did not choose Stephen to go with her. She did, however, choose the next best person, Taj, so Taj was able to explain the plan to her at Exile.
JT & Joe raid the Timbira camp and select one bag of beans and one container of water. They are thinking ahead, and decide that if there is ever a tribal switch and they end up on Timbira for some reason, they’d be pissed if there wasn’t any food because they took it all. Back at Jalapao, however, Sandy is irritated with their decision and loudly complains about it. Sandy is also irritated with the fact that Sydney is constantly flirting with all the guys on the tribe.
At the Immunity Challenge, one member of both tribes will race against each other along a zigzag course to retrieve a puzzle piece, and race back to the mat. Once the first person is back, another person goes out, until all eight puzzle pieces are retrieved. Tribes then have to solve the puzzle, which is a phrase, to win immunity. Jalapao is ahead on the course, but Timbira catches up to them so both tribes are even going into the solving phase. Timbira figures out what the phrase is, and works quickly to put the pieces in the correct sequence. They solved the puzzle first and win immunity.
At Jalapao’s camp, the consensus is that Sandy will be voted out. However, Taj sticks up for her, saying that Sandy performs better at the challenges than Sydney. This makes some of the guys debate their decision. However, in a 5 to 2 vote at Tribal Council, Sandy Burgin is voted out of Jalapao.
